ABOUT US
Peak Ambition is a partnership between Bragg Creek residents, Adrian Turner and Richard Smith, both ex-pats from the UK with a lifelong passion for sport and in particular the game of rugby and its links to the community.
Adrian had a long playing career in the UK followed by 20 years of coaching both in England and Alberta, including being a founder member and former President of Bow Valley Rugby Club in Cochrane, Alberta. Adrian has coached senior and junior rugby in Alberta for 12 years , including provincial representation and assisting Bow Valley’s inception and development, through to becoming established Alberta Cup regulars.
Richard played professionally in the UK and Europe for over 10 years and represented Wales on the International Senior Men’s stage. Since being in Alberta, he also served as Director of Rugby for the Calgary Canucks, including managing three senior teams, facilitating coach development and the running of a youth academy, and also did a 10 year stint with the U of C Dino’s ladies team.
Both have World Rugby accredited level 2 coaching qualifications and are continually undertaking appropriate professional development.
To complement Adrian and Richard, Bragg Creek and it’s surrounding area is home to a number of well qualified and experienced rugby people who fully support Peak Ambition, not least Adrian’s sons, Conor and Cameron, who are both currently studying for a BSc in Strength and Conditioning.

A hub for activity in the Greater Bragg Creek area which integrates with the whole community
Our “Rucking Good Time” venture focuses directly on sporting activity and comprises several components:
- A voluntary program to provide an introduction to a variety of sports as part of local community recreation services – based on widely practised formats (including Rookie Rugby) with a view to developing generic skills to benefit all sports
- Summer Camps and an indoor Winter Academy to further the development of aspiring participants – camps will include strength and conditioning education, and adventure activities to broaden the learning experience and embrace the spirit of the local natural environment, such as Mountain Biking, Horse Riding and Indigenous Experiences
Alternatively, “Creek to Peak” aims to celebrate the wonderful environment in which we reside through facilitating the visit of touring teams to the area. We will provide full adventure itineraries and sporting fixtures, collaborating with local commerce, townsites and accommodation providers as well as engendering community involvement to deliver a full mountain experience for our guests. This will also integrate with Rucking Good Time events and provide for reciprocal coach and player development opportunities.
