Camps & PROGRAMS
Under our "Rucking Good Time" initiative, we aim to provide a complete sporting experience for the novice through to the more adept player. Whether it be an introduction to the unique culture and its fundamental principles, the development of general physical literacy and self-expression, or a more focused approach to specific skills and tactics, we want participants to simply have fun and enjoy themselves in an instinctive way.
Through a combination of voluntary community programs, activity camps and academy offerings, we aim to both introduce players to the wonderful benefits sport can offer, and to provide opportunity for aspiring players to hone their instincts and develop their all round tactical and technical abilities.
Introduce youngsters to the unique culture and characteristics of sporting activities in a fun and safe environment. The focus is on an active experience where playing, running, ball handling and self-expression is fostered through maximum participation. Basic techniques will be initiated and developed through a variety of activities to generate enjoyment and instinct alongside an understanding of spatial awareness and coordination.
Building on the fundamentals of enjoyment, expression and the unique characteristics of the sporting environment, through catering for the natural growth and development of motor skills and technical capabilities. Introducing basic technical concepts, skill development and application, and the notions of teamwork/collective decisions alongside individual roles and responsibilities.
Providing a complete sporting experience for the novice or the experienced player, focusing on individual skills and unit play through to the overall team performance. Develop player understanding of why we do things, linking functional roles to game principles and encouraging innovation and tactical strategy.
Current activities
We are excited to be hosting our first summer of camps this August, at our base venue, Curtis Field in Redwood Meadows Townsite. The camps will consist of three days of activities, two days devoted to rugby development, including an introduction to the principles of body conditioning and the third incorporating a different activity to give participants a chance to gain a wider appreciation of physical literacy.
We are delighted to be partnering with Handle Bar Adventures of Bragg Creek, who will be providing for Day 3, a fun filled Adventure Scavenger Hunt right here in the foothills in the wilds of Kananaskis Country. Whilst undertaking challenges and activities all participants will explore such skills as navigation, animal awareness, plant life, back country survival and learn some cultural history of the region.
All camps run from Tuesday to Thursday at a cost of $115 per day, which includes a daily lunch and a PA T-shirt . For those participants already members of rugby clubs and insured with Rugby Alberta/Canada, the cost is reduced to $105 per day (all costs include GST).
As part of Redwood Meadows Community Association's inspiring new venture to provide Multi Sport opportunities to children in the area, Peak Ambition are delighted to be hosting a rugby program for players of all abilities.
The rugby sessions will run every Thursday from May 12th for 8 weeks, through to 30th June. Sessions commence at 6pm for all ages.
The 8 week program costs just $50 per participant and there will be opportunity to try a multitude of other sports too. Please check out the RMCA website or go to their Facebook page
Peak Ambition are also privileged to be a part of another community based initiative, running a short series of Rookie Rugby sessions at Banded Peak School. In conjunction with Rugby Alberta's Development Staff, we will be hosting 3 sessions to introduce pupils to rugby and to the wider benefits of physical literacy.
